Welcome to Peace

Welcome to Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church! The purpose of our congregation is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16.

Peace Church November 2021 Reformation

Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod

Please join us (via Facebook) this week, November 1-6, as we continue our celebration the Reformation!

Check back every evening Sunday through Saturday (after 6:00pm) and a new hymn will be posted for your meditation and enjoyment.

Here is the first, The Church’s One Foundation, written by Church of England clergyman, Samuel J. Stone, in 1866. The tune was composed by Samuel S. Wesley.

At the bottom of the post you will find Scripture references as well as a link where you can hear it sung by The Lutheran Warbler. You might even be tempted to sing along!

The attached image is that of the Wartburg, a castle overlooking the town of Eisenach, in the state of Thuringia, Germany. In 1999, UNESCO added the Wartburg to its World Heritage List. It was the home of St. Elisabeth of Hungary and the place where Martin Luther translated the New Testament of the Bible into German.

Christ’s Peace

Kyrie Eleison
A BRIEF MEDITATION ON A HYMN OF THE CHURCH Twenty-third Sunday after Pentecost
The Church’s one foundation
Is Jesus Christ, her Lord;
She is His new creation
By water and the Word.
From heav'n He came and sought her To be His holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her, And for her life He died.
Elect from ev'ry nation,
Yet one o’er all the earth;
Her charter of salvation:
One Lord, one faith, one birth. One holy name she blesses, Partakes one holy food,
And to one hope she presses With ev'ry grace endued.
Though with a scornful wonder The world sees her oppressed, By schisms rent asunder,
By heresies distressed,
Yet saints their watch are keeping; Their cry goes up, “How long?” And soon the night of weeping Shall be the morn of song.
Through toil and tribulation And tumult of her war
She waits the consummation Of peace forevermore
Till with the vision glorious
Her longing eyes are blest,
And the great Church victorious Shall be the Church at rest.
Yet she on earth has union With God, the Three in One, And mystic sweet communion With those whose rest is won. O blessed heav'nly chorus! Lord, save us by Your grace That we, like saints before us, May see You face to face.
